recursing back to the idea of my study of s(x), finally. it's fascinating, you know. you think you've got a function all figured out, mapped it through different dimensions, with different parameters, seen how it interacts with things, but nope. we regress once again. it's frustratingly beautiful. i can't get mad at entropy, it's inherent.
i think one of the key things that i realized about it is that it is not a monolith. the way that i interact with it is fundamentally different than other people. this seems kind of obvious in retrospect, but that actually means it's not a function (one of the most basic things i thought about it), so what do i know, i'm just blowing hot air HAH. well, all i can do is observe and react and grow with it, now. so these entries to break down the lectures and labs are really quite useful.
it is so incredibly fascinating to me to glimpse, finally, the hint of another function beneath it. it was so careless of me to think it just a singular entity that now i almost can't stop myself from laughing at it. it's truly a system, of at least two major players (which i'm sure i'll come to laugh at as well, there's no way it's just that). and that opens up such wonderful possibilities. this does mean that i need to rename things, so let me do that.
first, we do still have s(x). i think this is the best name for the system in its entirety. but as for the thing that i thought was s(x) before... i think. R^n would be a better way to describe it. it's the grounding factor, the driver, and wholly dominates (to enjoy a slight double entendre) the other player. for the second entity... α is apt. yes, i quite enjoy that. especially because it does deal heavily with velocity, it seems very very correct to name it that.
i had two enlightening lecture labs in the past week and i'm very lucky i got the chance to attend them. i won't be able to go to another one for a while though, i think. but it's fascinating, i think i'm now able to replicate a certain parameter set in the system at home, so i may learn new things through exploring that. who knows if the only reason i'm able to replicate it is simply proximity to aforementioned lectures though, HAH. i look forward to writing another entry at some point.
