so you've started your journey into lion dance and you've started to scratch the surface of the variety and diversity of southern lion dance (we're not even gonna get into other countries styles of lion dance like japan or korea! or the other types of mystic creature dances like unicorn or pheonix or qilin! there's so much to dig your teeth into there if you're interested though).
lion dance information sources in english will generally divide southern lion dance into two categories: hoksan and futsan. but there are a lot of other styles of lion dance that are still alive and well today! i'm not an expert or a sifu but i'm curious and like to look at things, so all the sections here will have links to the playlists i curate for the different styles of lion dance :o)
bleh this is WIP don't look.... some of this isn't exactly right eheh. gonna split into history (martial arts schools/ timeline), characteristics of the dance (movement and lion differences) and tips for writing/ finding info i think?
